Gregory G. Greenleaf

Biography

A senior associate of The Family Business Consulting Group, Inc.®, Gregory Greenleaf is the former president of the Walter J. Greenleaf Company, a regional manufacturer's representative and distributor serving the metal cutting and manufacturing industry, and a former minority owner of Greenleaf Corporation, a manufacturer of advanced cutting tool technology and technical ceramic material for the computer industry.

As a consultant, Greenleaf uses his personal experience in a family-owned business, plus his training as a clinical psychotherapist, to help develop strategic plans that unify both the family and the business. In doing so, his goal is to help prepare and empower the next-generation for their future leadership and ownership roles. As a family business consultant, Greg is committed to ensuring that family and privately-held businesses continue to thrive in Pittsburgh and throughout the United States.

Greg earned a BS in Studio Art and a BA in Philosophy from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York. In 1987, he graduated from the Master's program in Counseling Psychology at Lesley College Graduate School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He worked as a clinical psychotherapist in Boston, Massachusetts for six years. When he left Boston to return to his family's business, he had a thriving private practice, and was a Senior Clinician and the Director of School Based Programs at the Center for Community Counseling.

Greenleaf utilizes his business and human service background, along with his love of the arts by serving on boards for a number of non-profit organizations. He is the chairperson of the Three Rivers Work Force Investment Board, a federally mandated, employer-driven, policy-making organization that establishes and maintains an employment training system for Pittsburgh and Allegheny County. Greg is on the board of trustees for Allegheny College, and as a member of its Campus Planning Committee, he assists in managing the $25 million North Quad Residential Housing expansion project. He also serves on the Academic Affairs Committee and the Allegheny College Presidential Review Committee.

Greenleaf is also a board member of the Pittsburgh Opera. He is currently a member of its Strategic Planning Committee, and was the past co-chair of their Development Committee. He served as chairman of the board of directors for the Mel Blount Youth Home in Washington, Pennsylvania for three years. He is also a member of the Family Firm Institute.

Greg and his wife, Rebecca, reside in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
