Drew S. Mendoza

Biography

Drew Mendoza, is the managing principal of The Family Business Consulting Group, Inc®.
 
Mendoza specializes in working with adult sibling and cousin teams of family business owners/managers and larger shareholder groups. A public speaker and columnist on family business matters, he has appeared on PBS, CNN, CNBC the local Chicago television networks and National Public Radio’s Marketplace; has been quoted in the Philadelphia Enquirer, New York Newsday, Chicago Tribune and Crain=s Chicago Business; and is published in the Family Business Review, Family Business Advisor, Family Business Magazine and Current Research on Occupations and Professions and Nation=s Business. He is co-author of the book Making Sibling Teams Work: The Next Generation. He has presented both internationally and throughout the United States to universities, trade associations, and professional service organizations. Mr. Mendoza provided expert testimony to the U.S. Senate Finance Committee on the impact of estate and gift taxes on family firms. 
 
Mendoza is a former member of the Family Firm Institute board of directors and a past associate editor of the Family Business Review, the only academic journal which focuses entirely on family business matters.   He served on the Trusts and Estates Advisory Board Committee of Trusts and Estates Magazine. Drew was the founding director of the Loyola University Chicago Family Business Center, recognized as a leading think tank on issues unique to business-owning families.
 
Mendoza came to the field of family business having worked as a real estate economist developing strategic planning and expansion strategies for businesses ranging from retail and manufacturing to the restaurant industry.
 
A graduate cum laude (B.S.W.) of the State University of New York at Buffalo, Mendoza completed his graduate studies at the University of Chicago with concentration in planning, urban economics and family systems. Drew resides in Chicago with his wife, Eloise, and their son and daughter.
